how do you remove a fork with a threadless headset, i know sometimes it falls out sometimes it does't. i don't have a rubber mallet to give it a tap, any help would be much apreciated.
Use the wooden handle of a claw hammer... Or, buy a rubber hammer. It's a good investment.

got it out. gave it a couple taps(very light) from the back end of a sledge hammer then gave it a couple of twists and it fell into my hands
Apparently that works too. Congrats!
