Quick question about a Shimano front brake caliper, 5500 series I believe, as was standard with the last 9 speed group. Will an Ultegra quick release fit the 105 caliper? Aparently there is no replacement part for the 105 QR. Current QR has only cosmetic damage, but I'm trying to get a bike cleaned up. The caliper works, so I don't want to pry off the old dinged up QR if the Ultegra replacement won't work. Thanks for any help you can offer.

I'd guess it'll work - the difference between the Ultegra Q/R is that it can be disassembled with an allen bolt, while the 105 Q/R is riveted into place?
While I'd guess that they're compatible, you're taking quite the risk in the even that they're not.
I'd say, just live with the cosmetic damage if the Q/R from the 105 still functions okay.
