Im doing a 2 day ride with one other rider leaving about 2pm on Friday June 8 from the east side of Plano,
going to Eisenhower State park on the TX/OK border and back the next morning. We're looking for a couple
of other people to come along. We are carrying overnight gear and expect an average speed of appx
12+mph due to the cargo in tow. From our start it should be about 65 miles each way.
Would anyone like to come along? A larger group is a safer group!
Not able to come along, but I hope ya'll have good weather, safe travel and a great ride.

I'll probably have to work on Friday, and definitely Saturday. I have wanted to do a multiple day tour for a while, but I work odd hours.:(

Ive been talking about doing this ride for a long time, but after I get one in I think Ill schedule more.
We are renting a shelter at the campground so we dont have to bring a tent!
Wish I could make this ride, but just not ready for back to back Metric's in 2 days yet.
Damn. This is something we love to do. Unfortunately I am racing Copperas Cove that weekend. We even have a Burley Nomad for such occasions.
Keep us (me and the wifey) in mind next time you do this. We have tandem, will travel!!!

Doggus... The wife and I are pondering going tandem and doing some self-sufficient touring once we both lose a little more weight... Anything negative about the Nomad?

looks like theres enough interest for another scheduled trip. Maybe after the heat of the summer when the highs are 85ish. Ill post about it later.

Post a thread when you set another date. If I have enough notice, I can probably make it.

The reason I scheduled the departure on Friday mid-afternoon is that we return saturday and can rest all sunday before hitting the grind again monday morning.
Any thoughts on this format for next time?

I prefer to leave later on Friday or Saturday morning as I don't have any days off. I have been known to disappear from work however.

The nomad is a great little trailer. It is a little pricey but it is built to last forever. I went ahead and bought the alternative hitch (skewer attach vs. frame attach) as I didn't want the trailer touching our fancy-smancy paint job. I also opted for the Nomad cargo rack which increased the amount of bulky stuff I could carry.
The only thing negative about it I could find are the tires. I would highly suggest finding some high pressure 16" tires if you plan to roll long distance at any kind of 'speed'. I never could get the trailer to stop bouncing with the cheapo tires I was running.
I pulled the Nomad across the U.K. (Lands End to John O' Groats), Netherlands and Germany on our 7 week bike trip last summer.
My favorite pic (http://doggus.files.wordpress.com/2006/07/pict0009.JPG) from that trip with my lil Burley Nomad in tow along the great Rhine river in Germany.

I would love to but am committed......earlier in the year I was looking for someone (anyone) to do the Red River ride out of Clarksville...anyone here interested for next year? Its usually the first week of June, and its Wednesday thru Sunday....anywhere from 30-100 miles per day. I was ready to do it this year, but finally decided such a ride would not be any fun without someone to do it with.......I will post another thread next year when the dates are set, but if anyone would be interested in such a ride, give me a shout. Its fully supported and each days starts and ends in Clarksville, so touring bags / trailers are not needed.....

If I had the right gear I would join you guys. I don't think I could carry much equipment on my Tarmac.
