I recently installed a Phil Wood BB on my bike and it has been great. It cured my BB creaking problems (so far, knock on wood) and is amazingly smooth. I followed the instructions for adjusting the chainline, then applied the retaining compound and torqued everything down.
I'm now considering changing to a different crankset, however, and may need to tweak the chainline by a few mm. My question is: can I just adjust and re-tighten the lockrings without completely removing them, or should I take everything apart, clean out the threads, and start over with fresh Loctite?
Also, has anyone found a good solvent to get rid of cured threadlocker (including Loctite 242 as well as the stuff that ships with the Phil lockrings)? So far WD-40 seems to work best for me but it still takes quite a bit of work to get it all out.
