Bob got his ear bitten off today when he suggested that I should start training a little more in heat to acclimate. He made a good point, however, as I fear this summer is going to be an oven. Let's just hope for the best, and maybe we'll be blessed with less than scorching heat on this century!

Change of plans...we are not renegading this ride...
We planned to do the metric to ride with some friends..who are now not doing this...so we are designing our own coastal metric....However, since we are staying Oxnard near Channel Islands Harbor..your ride goes right around our condo...and we are riding on Harbor Blvd..so it is very likely we will see each other at least for a bit...
I am even debating not doing the bike path since it was so crowded last year..

I will be doing this ride too as it is local for me!!!

climb + 2 mile in the same sentence is extremely difficult for us fatties. I need to put on my 12-27 and stop avoiding the PV hills. :D

Yes we were going to renegade the metric...no century since i am doing the Slacker the following week...but it get so hot going toward ojai...we figured we would do most of the Cool Breeze course to SB and back!

The 2nd email was asking about my wheel tube size so they will have few extras... very very nice.

I wanted to start by asking a couple of questions about your ride
preferences and then provide some general information about parking
etc. The questions are simple and I need you to reply to
"survey@venturavelo.org".

First, what kind of sandwiches do you want at your lunch stop (Ham,
Turkey, vegi, and/or peanut butter and jelly)? What kind of bread do
you want (rye, whole wheat, sourdough, or white)?

Second, what kind of foods do you like at the other rest stops (their
will be six on the century and 4 on the metric routes)?

General information.

Parking will start at the dirt lot at the end of Spinnaker Drive and
will the proceed to the paved un-gated lots along the Harbor side of
Spinnaker Drive at the Port District's request. They have also
asked that you park in these lots along outside edge as much as
possible (near Spinnaker Drive) because of the expected holiday
weekend traffic for the local shop and restaurant owners. There will
be signs along Spinnaker Drive for the parking.

The ride day check-in for the tour will be at the Gazebo on the
village lawn just past Ventura Harbor Village's gate 3 and it will
start at 6:30 AM. This will also be the location for the carb
loading dinner and early check-in on Friday and this will be from 6
to 8:30 PM at the Gazebo. There will be a Three Harbors Bike Tour
sign on the Gazebo as well.

"The Century route is rated at Extremely Difficult, The Metric is rated Difficult to Moderate, and the Half Metric is rated Moderate to Easy under the BRDAA rating system."
It repeat the same 'extreme' in the official site (http://venturavelo.org/_wsn/page3.html), but from the ride description I don't get it?

We are heading towards Ventura...either on Harbor or on the 3 harbor route on the bike path...
we go to main st and turn left...then onto the Emma Woods Bike trail and up the coast thru summerland and into SB...then probably eat and head back....should be about 67-68 miles and way cooler than riding up to Ojai and Lake Casitas!
