Just bought a pair of Nike Poggio II's with a carbon sole. I noticed that in the box were a pair of cutouts with an adhesive backing in the shape of a Look cleat. The non-adhesive side has a sandpaper like texture - am I meant to put this on the bottom of the cleat to keep it from sliding when I walk, or is it meant to go between the cleat and shoe itself (i.e. does it act like some sort of gasket to prevent damage to the carbon fibre sole)?
I know my Speedplay pedals require you to place a special shim to space out the stack height a little in order to prevent the pedal body from contacting the carbon sole. My guess would be that those cutouts wouldn't last long for walking so I'd assume it's for spacing and thus would go between the cleat and the sole. Did the shoes come with any kind of instructions?
Basicaly this ads better adhesion as you already figured since carbon soles are smoothed out.
