You know what I mean;) Your first time is kinda awkward, you're unsure of yourself, and you're left with a sense of disappointment. But the second time, you feel more comfortable, you can go longer, try different positions to see what feels best, and you finish with an overwhelming sense of satisfaction:D

That's how my second ride on my new road bike felt yesterday. I was able to dial it in a little better and I didn't feel drained at the end. And I would like to thank the Lord for inventing triple cranksets! I bottomed out my gears a couple times.:o There are some real leg-burners out here and some nice scenery. Way too many potholes, though. Now I just need to learn to stay focused and smooth out my pedaling. This looks like the beginning of a beautiful and fulfilling relationship:love:

Why are people always "dialing it in" ? What the heck does that mean? My bike doesn't have any knobs or dials.

princebaal: Dialing in is the process of making minor adjustments to make the bike feel more comfortable to you. It may be raising or lowering the seat post, changing saddle position or adjusting the derailleurs, etc.

Once the bike is dialed in you normally don't make any adjustments to it unless you change something.
