Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I couldn't bear adding this to the monstrous Downtube thread. I'm curious to see what people have done with their Downtube models. Can we see some pics and/or descriptions of Downtube specific modifications i.e. wheels/tires/racks/fenders/bars/paint/mechanical enhancements. I think one of the biggest appeals of this bike could be what you can do with all that money you are saving over some other expensive folders. I am a former classic Vdub owner turned bicycle enthusiast and this was exactly the sort of reason I had one of those. So let me see some bling...

The photo is about two years old. Since then I changed the brake levers to Dia Compe 287v levers to get rid of the travel agents. And I installed a trigger shifter, since the grip shifter broke.
