Hey ya'll, glad to be here. :)

Name: Nathan
Age: 26
Location: Central Ohio

I've been into cycling for years (since I was a kid), but I just got into cycling in a BIG way. I didn't ride much last season, and forgot how much I enjoy it... this year though, I'm going all out. I'd like to hit my first century by the end of the summer (I did 40-45 miles last Friday... man was I sore the next day).

My current ride is in my sig, though I'll be replacing it soon. My next bike is going to be a stock trials bike (google "bike trials" or check my sig if you don't know the type). After that, I'd like to build up a Surly LHT for commuting / long distance riding / light touring. I might even do a bit of bike camping this fall, if I can get the gear together before the weather turns sour. Next year, I'll probably pick up an FSR MTB for some serious urban assault riding, and I might look into some longer tours if I feel up to it.

If anyone's looking for a casual riding buddy in the Columbus area, just say the word.

Hey Nate, AKA Dr. Robert, check out the regional forums for riding partners. You are correct, a trials bike isn't supposed to have a seat...strange how a lot of people don't know that.

There are a few people here who do stealth camping--check the Touring forum for more information on that practice.

Welcome to BF!

Kent, WA? Sounds familiar... a bit south of Olympia, right? I think I got my car impounded there back in '98 or '99... :)

I used to live in the Pacific Northwest - grew up in Walla Walla & Milton Freewater, actually. I've done a bit of traveling since then though... I find myself in Ohio via Texas, Mississippi, and Maryland. Funny how life turns out.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Hehehe, no, Kent is NORTH of Olympia.

My husband and I once spent an interesting evening in WW2...we didn't realise that the Econolodge we had chosen was so close to the prison  ! Never again :D .

I knew it was around there somewhere. :D

Heh, whoops. Not that the prison itself is so bad, necessarily (unless you're easily spooked), but that's a pretty bad neighborhood to find yourself in after dark if you don't know the locals. :p
