This is the Man to beat! Too bad time is cruel and doesn't let Lance and THE Mig race it out against each other.
Maybe the should do one of those computer generated battles like they did with Ali vs Dempsey a long time ago.

I'd love to see how all the greats int he TdF would compare in ridign with Lance... I mean.. who wouldn;t want to see an All-star race with Fausto Coppi, Eddy Mercxx, the Mig, Lemond, Hinault... all in their prime... someone has to do a computer generated sim to see who would win the whole thing

my vote would be on lance, for sure. he's so systematic in training ONLY for the tour that he would be hard to beat, even by the other greats while they were in their prime.

I think that's why my money would be on the others because they didn't only train for the tour, but for all the big prizes.

I think Mercx or Mig would eat him alive in a like for like race.

If Lance rode on their equipment and did their yearly schedule he would be in the hospital!

I agree. If they put everyone on the same bike, Lance would be able to hang on for maybe two or three mountain stages. Indurain would cream him in the time trials. It would be a close race, but Merckx would be the overall victor.

A race with all of those greats? Merkx would win. He wasn't a specialist, he could win weather it's a climb, TT, or a flat sprint.

How about Merkx or Coppi on the modern equipment of today on thier prime?

I agree, Merkx gets my vote as well.

Merkx for me too. I don't know much about any of them other than what I am watching on "Road to the Tour" on OLN. Some of these guys were just phenomenal weren't they? But for now, this year, I am pulling for Lance all the way. Go Lance Go.

I'm kinda torn this year. I want Lance to win #5 but it would be nice to see Tyler Hamilton kick tail!

Merkx wasn't called the Cannible for nothing. He would eat Lance alive in his prime. His 1st tour win is still one of the greatest races in cycling history. In one stage alone he decimated the ENTIRE peloton on a SOLO attack, after he was already in the yellow. That takes true balls man.

I was surprised how many people didn't like Merkx. Getting punched in the face and stomach by the crowd and having to go on and race had to be tough!

Hillyman-

Sorry about Tyler, it looks like he isn't going to be a huge factor in this years Tour. Although he did get second in the Giro with a broken scapula...
