Fifty Plus (50+) - It' your Fault---All of you, Except the mountain bikers.

Later in the year I should be able to get a better bike- Won't be till October but I popped into my LBS today to sort a few parts for my holiday. This was not a spur of the moment decision but the shop owner and I are the same size. He has just built a bike up for himself and I cannot give you any details of the bike at all- Except his one fits me and it is only 15.4 lbs weight. This is a top end Aluminium bike with CF seat post and Fork. I'll try to get better details on this bike but it is not a run of the Mill Branded bike at all. The only name I got off the frame was IGNIS and that is the model name so I cannot even tell you the manufacturer. It is built up with Durace- 10 speed Truvatif Crankset- A Top end Shimano wheel set that had bladed 16/20 spokes and as I say- this bike is light. He can build it with a Compact or normal crankset- but not a triple.

This will be a custom build but if he can get a bike that light- that handles that well- Then I think I am going to be saving the pennies to get the same spec. On top of that- He will really come down on price for me.

I think the main reason I am thinking about a new ROAD bike now is that This road riding has got through to me. I started off right with a lowend bike- Made a couple of mods to get the thing working- but I am at long last beginning to enjoy the smoother riding that tarmac is giving me.

So I blame you lot for this- If I hadn't decided to see what thing road biking was about last year- Then I wouldn't be scrimping and saving to get a bike that will never be shown a spot of mud- Even on the road.

I guarantee you it will have some mud on it if you do any riding in the rain. Mine looks pitiful at the moment with all the dirt from riding wet roads earlier this week....cleanup is scheduled for tonight:)

OK, since Stapam started it. I'm also toying around with getting another bike and have been inticed by the Cannondale CAAD8/CAAD9 models. Anyone here ride one?

Thats it- the Boreas Ignis. I did try a search over here but you have a better search engine than I do.

This will start off as a frame so will not have the funny wheels on it but at least DG can see what I am thinking of--


What am I thinking of???? This bike costs as much as the Tandem.


Edit--Not the wiggle version as That is a CF frame. and at that price is probably a few seasons oput of Date

DEFINITELY NO Mud and if it rains- this will go in a plastic bag. The cost of it will make certain of that. And as to the road bug hitting me- Not fully certain as I am getting withdrawal symptoms through a lack of Mud packs and scars on the legs.

Clearly the Aliens have already landed.

That is a very nice frame and should build up into a super bike.

I can't ever see myself going to the true road bike. My touring bike is about as close as I'll get, but these friggin' forums has made me covet an additional bike or two. Going to start a thread on that very subject.

No, I'm pretty sure it's nothing at all like that.

First it's slicks on the mtn bike. Then an old 10spd from a yard sale. Then, "honey, my car will surely last another two yrs, I'll just put the car payment into a bike payment. And we'll save on gas"

Lightweight riders can benefit greatly from lightweight bikes.
