I had a short test ride on a 'dale R600 Sport Headshok and was quite impressed with the handling and comfort. I don't know anyone with a similar bike as they seem pretty rare in the UK, therefore I would value comments from users of headshok road bikes. Are they comfortable on long rides, is maintenance a problem, what's your experience???

Thanks

I may be totally off base here but unless you're planning on doing the Paris-Roubais, I really do not see an advantage of having a shock absorber on a road bike. I had a Headshock equipped MTB for a while and loved it.....the lockout was a nice feature. Who knows, you may find yourself locking out the headshock on the R600 frequently which defeats the purpose of having one in the first place.

Ihave F3000 Hardtail with Fatty Ultra Headshok. it's a great fork. same internals as yours.
they do tend to develop top out but that's easily recitified with an oil change. Otherwise they are great, you won't even know it's there. Gret aidea that never took off...

I ride a Cyclocross bike equipped with a headshock (99 XS-800) mainly on the road and I love it. It really smoothes everything out and makes things a lot easier on your wrists. I find that the only time I lock the suspension out is when I'm pushing really hard up a hill. I've owned this bike for three years now and have never had any problems with it. Thumbs up from me!
