Will be spending 2 weeks working Huntsville/Madison AL area and I will be bringing my road bike. Any recommendations on nice rides of 10-15 miles in the evenings or longer on weekend?
Might want to check this site and the local shops linked on the site:

Looking at a map of huntsville, I wonder what's rideable for the sake of living car-free. Obviously, I can't ride 565 and 231/431. Are the other busy roads rideable? Are less busy side roads orginized to the city grid enough to make navigating this way feasable?

Also, what about the LBS. Places to go. places to avoid.
Question #1:
There are several busy-ish roads that are drivable fully or partly. The parkway, Whitesburg, Bailey Cove and Drake (just a few of the many) come to mind. I have been biking in Huntsville for about a year and I have found the city to be fairly easily navigable by bike. You will have to pick where you live very carefully to be fully car free as the city is quite spread out.
Question #2
As far as LBS goes, there are several. Bicycle Works, Bicycles ETC, Trailhead, and Madison Cycles. My favorite is Bicycle Works (Cannondale, Bianchi, a few others), Bicycles Etc (Trek, Lemond) is also good. I went into Trailhead (Masi, Specialized) once to buy a bike for my brother and was ignored for 10 minutes before I walked out. Never been to Madison Cycles.
Hope this helps...
