My daughter is 10 years old and you guys are as bad as her...how about the title of this thread for a spoiler...thanks a lot.

I guess I was destined to not see this game unmolested no matter what. I work very close to the rink and ride past it on my evening rides and did everything I could to NOT find out the score or hear anything about the game.

Just when I think I'm home free, I sit down to watch the game :) that I Tivo'd and my daughter calls to say how her last day of school went and the first thing she says it "THE DUCKS WON THE CUP"

Now the game has all the suspense as the movie "Titanic".

My daughter is 10 and wanted to share with her dad, but you guys are supposed to be grown ups.

The only way the Ducks could lose is if the Senators shut them out...no bloody likely.

Preferably the St. Louis Blues.

I've always been a King's fan, but haven't watched much (any) hockey lately. We used to buy tickets to about 10 to 15 Kings games a season (long drive), but we were on vacation when they went on sale, so we bought tickets to the brand new M Ducks just to give them a try. We went to the our first game against the Bruins and lost all desire to go to anymore games. The first time they did that organ ditty, my X and I yelled "Anaheim Sucks", with my loud voice that went through the whole rink and practically the whole place turned, in shock, to look at us. We couldn't figure out what we did that was so wrong until we saw on the screen that we were supposed to yell, "let's go Ducks".

At that point, we were done with the Disney Ducks.

I watched this series because I do like to watch good hockey.

PS. The King's fans are the best, but I wouldn't take my 10 year old daughter to a Kings game, the Ducks games are much more family safe.:(

I'm with you, Bluenose. Sometimes it's hard for folks to understand the passion and connection Canadians have for the game. There's no feeling in the world like seeing a game in Edmonton, or even some insignificant Junior A game in the frozen Manitoba prairie.

Still, the Ducks played an exciting brand of hockey and deserved to win. Me? When I saw Scott Neidermayer hoist the Cup, I didn't see a Duck... I saw the skinny kid I used to see on the Kamloops Blazers blueline. :p

My wife works for a Ducks sponsor, so we got nice tix and a special VIP room to a game vs. St Louis. I wore my Kings jersey to the game, and rooted for St Louis. The wanna-be tough guy shouts were hysterical, and usually delivered from a very safe distance.

FWIW, we took a friend and his 3.5 year old to the last Kings game of this season - he loved it, and there was nothing family-unfriendly to report.

Now it has been 10 years since I've been to a Kings game, so maybe things have changed, but I really doubt it. When we were there last, depending on where you ended up sitting, there was quite a bit of foul language tossed about that I just don't want my little girl exposed to. I'm her dad so it's my choice.:)

I went to a Kings v Mduck game and the Pond years ago. I'm in my Kings jersey and my bro is in his Wings jersey. At one point when a ref totally missed a call against the ducks we stood up and yelled "Hey ref you trying to get Disney to up your payroll". It could be heard across the rink to the point where a group of Kings fans responded with "No... they're just kissing Eisner's a**". It was classic.

I can understand what you mean about taking kids. I have season tix to the Kings and the section I sit minds their P&Qs when kids are around. Once in a while someone slips up and if they keep it up they're politely reminded that there are kids around. The people that sit next to me bring their 3 year old all the time. But it really does depend on where you sit. So if you want to try again sit in 306, avoid 304 they're fun to sit with but not kid friendly! Next time I have an extra ticket I'll let you know!

I saw that interview and was laughing my a** off at him. I agree with most of what he said. I do believe they need to keep the instigator rule for the last 5 minutes of a game. Too many times coaches would put an enforcer in at end of a game that had already been decided to take someone out.

BTW: I grew up in Buena Park and when to high school in Anaheim and I still hate the ducks. Too me and alot hockey fans they will still be the ******* child of a 3rd rate Disney kids movie.

Im a Sharks fan. But I did have an experience where I sat next to 8 Kings season ticket holders that were traveling to games to see their team play. We had a lot of fun together even though we kicked there butts. After the game they invited us down for a game in LA. They definately deserve better then management has provided.

You're right about that, it was kind of stupid and too many skill players had to clear the ice to save themselves.

I love the new holding rules, it's great to see that the skill players are able to strut there stuff out there and not getting held back by some (not all) looser defense man that couldn't skate.

That series the Kings played against Toronto was one for the ages.
7 Games, East vs. West, US vs. Canada, Gretzky vs. Gilmour...

I often wondered if my perception was somewhat skewed or inflated. So a couple of years ago I asked some impartial beat writers, and they all pretty much told me, "You're not wrong, it was one of the great NHL playoff series."

Those games, and the memory of Doug Gilmour's bottomless, gaping maw, still gives me chills.

As for entitlement, who cares? If you're a five year old watching hockey, it doesn't matter where you're watching it. And why would Daniel Alfredsson be anymore deserving to win than Todd Marchant or Chris Pronger?
