Another addition to the Surly cult!
You may remember me asking in this thread about which bike to get:

I got my new Surly Crosscheck yesterday at around 8pm and was bummed it was so late in the day (darkness) and I couldn't ride it. No lights or reflectors yet. At around 11pm I got impatient and drove on campus (well lit, no people) and rode the bike. Wow - just wow. I love this thing.
I rode to work today on the bike then went for a ride with another worker. I intended on 5-7 miles just to get used to the bike and two hours later we hit mile 24 as I pulled into my house. First day biking and I did 24 miles... I'm not going to act tough and say it was easy, I pushed hard to keep up with my in-shape friend. I give it a month and I'll be leading a little more :D My legs are toast tonite.
Thanks for the help I got on here and the cyclocross boards.
I'll post specs and photos very soon. I bought the bike instead of a Nikon DSLR, so it'll be a day or two.
