Does anyone have a Trek 5900 .... what are your thoughts of it? I have heard some mixed feelings on it from some guys I used to race with .... but am yet to get to ride one myself.

If it is good enough for US Postal .......?, then it all boils down to taste and your checkbook. Steve

don't forget that the 5900 is being revamped next year. the 5200 and 5500 should remain unchanged for the time being, but the 5900 gets a new OCLV 110 frame with shaped tubes. pictures can be found here (http://www.lancearmstrong.com/lance/OnLine2.nsf/Docs/D37499CB86AB278C86256D15006F21CD). you also get the new 10-speed dura-ace in the mix. MSRP should be about $4300.

Where'd you get that MSRP? I haven't heard anything about any kind of pricing and am surprised to hear that it's lower then the current model.

i have my ways... :)

it's an approximate number, but it will be in that definite ballpark. the lbs has some on order and told me. btw, what is MSRP on the current 5900? i thought it was slightly under or right at 4k.

I'd prefer to think of it as Hincapie's ;)

Nope .... 110 ....

From Trek's website:

"FRAME: OCLV 110 Carbon. The lightest, fastest production frame ever made. Proven by the USPS team in the Tour de France. Optimum Compaction Low Void carbon. 110 grams of carbon fiber per square meter of OCLV creates this ultralight frame. 1-1/8" head tube. Trek Pro Race geometry. Handmade in the USA."

Pretty much speculation but, I understand that the 5500 frame for '04 will be the 5900 frame today('03). In other words it will be the 110 carbon frame. Regardless, Trek will be separating the 5200 and 5500 frames so there will be a difference for '04 whatever it is.

The 5900 frame for '04, as is stated in this thread, will be the new 110 frame with shaped tubes that Lance is currently riding.
If Lance wins the tour, success of this new 5900 frame is virtually guaranteed.
