Framebuilders - brazed on under BB cable guides

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I am crossposting from the bicycle mechanics forum:
Does anyone have brazed on under BB cable guides?
I am wondering how you prevent paint damage and frictionless operation. I have always had the plates with the mounting holes before. I would clean them till they need replacing.

The LBS should have teflon or delrin tubing that has in inside diameter slightly larger than the outside diameter of the derailleur cables. A six inch long piece of tubing protects the paint and is slippery enough so that cable wear is minimized.

Thanks I will check with my LBS.
Over on the bicycle mechanics forum, I got grief for my use of the term "frictionless".
Before anyone here begins, let me make it clear: I meant "less friction".
