I bought a set of ksyrium elites about a month ago. I've never had problems with wheels going out of true before, but since I bought the ksyrium's, I've had them in the shop every single Sunday trying to get the wheels trued. I then ride 100 miles or so, and they're wayyy out of true again. They tell me they're using a spoke tensioner and the right mavic tool, but, like I said, they haven't stayed true for a week since I bought them.
I'm 6'0, 195 right now, and I'm wondering if any of you have every had problems with ksyrium elite's staying in true?
If not, is it possible that I have defective wheels? Or do the guys at my shop just not know how to true them? I like my shop, I can spend an hour there just looking around, the guys are always friendly and helpful, and they never charge me a penny for quick adjustments, so I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt...

Maybe try a different shop?
Also the Ksyrium's are pretty lightweight. I would imagine that your weight, well, you shouldn't have any problems but I've heard of others busting wheels that I can't - and they're half my weight. How do you ride?
Just to rule out the shop, I'd have another shop true 'em for you real quick like.

Yup, try another shop or stop jumping off curbs. If neither of those work, then you probably have a defective wheel. I've been on Elites from 270lb down to my current 235. I had them retrued and tensioned at 800 miles and they've been rock solid for 4 months (and 1500 miles) til I wiped out last weekend knocking the rear out of true.

Yeah, the shop asked if I'm jumping curbs too. I usually ride early when there aren't many people out there and stick to the roads, no potholes either.
I picked up a set of Ksyrium Elite's when I was still around 205, I'm currently a little under 185, typically ride 150-200 miles a week and often on some bumpy roads, and they never went so much as a hint out of true.

Yeah...I ride Elite's too. Have about 700 miles on them. Still true. I tip the scales at 260-265.
I'm thinking maybe just a bad wheel...something got in the mix for that one and it's not quite as strong as others or something. Maybe the shop can exchange them out for another pair? Try them.

Thanks. It's good to hear that others have no problems. I was just wondering if the ones who DO have problems were the silent majority.
I just got it back, so I'll put in another 100 miles and see. If they go out of true again, I'll start working on getting a replacement from the shop.

I am 255 and have K Elites on my Tarmac. 1400 miles so far with one trueing of the rear wheel and two broken rear spokes. Now on a loaner rear wheel as the bike shop is seeking a warranty replacement for the wheel. I guess I will see what Mavic says.....
