I replaced my Specialized Speedzone Pro computer with a VDO MC1.0+, because my Specialized computer reset automatically after 10 hours and I lost all my info in the middle of a brevet.
Well, now with my trusty VDO MC1.0+ computer, I was about 280 miles and around 26 hours into a 600K (376miles), when it suddenly reset to 0 and I lost all my info- trip mileage, average speed, max, and elevation gain. From that point on, I had to manually reset to zero at every turn so that I could follow the cue sheet.

Has anyone else had this problem with the VDO MC1.0+? The reason why I bought this computer in the first place was because it was not supposed to do that and it would keep recording throughout a long brevet. Does the VDO have a built-in reset time?

Not sure on the reset time.
I've used mine up to 200k rides, nothing longer this year.
How long were you off the bike? I've not reset mine after short rides and usually the next day it just picks up where it left off.

Did you hold down both buttons for too long? This will switch wheel sizes and clear all the data for the ride. I've done this by accident several times when fussing with the altimeter or the stopwatch.

What I like about the VDO is that there are a couple of options for using the trip odometer and navigator.
I reset the trip odometer at every control which helps prevent inaccuracies in mileage over a long distance. Set the navigator at zero at the start and you'll have total mileage for the ride. If you want to keep track of splits and write down your stats on an index card that you keep with your brevet card - this way you can track on bike time, off bike time, average speed, climbing, etc.

Or you can reset the navigator feature at every control and let the trip odometer keep a running tally. This will keep your climbing and time on bike accumulating.
