Just bought a new Norco Mountaineer. http://www.norco.com/bikes/2003bikes/mountaineer.htm I was wondering if this bike would be worth upgrading. THe frame seems to be very solid. It has an over sized type aluminum frame. I was wanted to get a better fork, maybe one with 100mm travel, & better tires. And if the gears start to get worn out maybe i'll upgrade those too. Any suggestions?

50mm travel, ouch! Depends onw hat kinda riding your going to be doing. The fork is something id definitely look into replacing. Is 7 speeds enough for you?

7 speeds seems to be ok, just doing recreational paved riding right now. Haven't really took it off-road yet. Do you think after a few upgrades it'll be ready for some off-road trail riding?

might consider replacing the wheelset if the current one doesn't hold up or if you think it's too heavy. when you replace wheelset i'd get new tires, then maybe a new fork. after that just wait unti things break then replace them.
