So now that I have my road bike I want to be on the bike all the time. I want to ride to the video store and to chick fil a, and to classes when school starts back up but I dont want to do all of that on the expensive bike.

I saw on CL that Fred was going to be selling bikes from his storage unit this sunday and he is selling most for 20 dollars. I figure even if I have to do a little work on a bike I will be able to find something for cheap to commute on.

So has anyone bought a bike from Fred? how was it? any other suggestions for a cheap commuter bike?

What size bike do you need? I've got an old original Motobecane hanging in my garage that you can have it it fits. I've never measured it but I think it a 54-56cm. It's too small for me so it's been hanging in my garage for about a year now. It needs some work but I don't think it needs much.

What size bike do you need? I've got an old original Motobecane hanging in my garage that you can have it it fits. I've never measured it but I think it a 54-56cm. It's too small for me so it's been hanging in my garage for about a year now. It needs some work but I don't think it needs much.

I ride a 54 right now if it is in fact a 54 I might have to take you up on that offer. A little work doesnt scare me or anything as long as the frame is in good condition.

I'll take some measurments in the next few days and let you know. I would love to get rid of that bike.

I just took some measurments:

TT c-c: ~56cm
ST c-c: ~52cm

It is a Motobecane Nomade. The frame is lugged steel. I don't see any rust on it. I can't tell what brand the components are but it is a 10 speed. The wheels are in decent shape and appear to just need to be trued up. It would be a good candidate for a fixed gear/single speed.

standover sounds perfect, top tube might be a touch long, but nothing a different stem cant fix. I think it would be a great commuter for me. Let me know how you would like to do this kevin. Thanks
