I'm thinking of riding from Banff to Jasper or the other way around. Has anyone done it? Where did you camp? Any experiences shared would be appreciated. Thanks for reading,

I would reccommend getting in touch with the folks at Banff Park. I know that that route can be done on a bike, but I don't know what the camping situation is. Remember that you absolutely must have a park pass and camp only in designated sites in the parks - they are really tough about that. Sounds like a fantastic ride though! Good luck!

I am planning on doing that trip in a couple of weeks, unless it snows:D
My plan is to go from Jasper to Banff, camping at:
Wabasso, Jasper (http://www.pc.gc.ca/pn-np/ab/jasper/visit/visit2c_E.asp) - first night
Either Columbia Icefield or Wilcox Creek - second night (this will be cold)
I probably won't camp in Banff, but if I did I would stay at Castle Mountain (http://www.pc.gc.ca/pn-np/ab/banff/visit/visit9a-7a_e.asp)
I like small campgrounds with a minimum of rv activity, ymmv.
Enjoy the trip.

I cycled the stretch from Jasper to Lake Louise about 10 years ago. We didn't do the Lake Louise to Banff section because it is so heavily travelled by vehicles and therefore not nearly so enjoyable. We camped at Jasper, Mosquito creek, and Waterfowl lake campsites. These facilities have changed little over the years. It was a fantastic trip and one I'd do again if I had the opportunity. More than 100 glaciers are visible from the parkway. We chose late June to avoid the heaviest traffic.

I've ridden Jasper to Banff twice, and parts of that route many more times than that.
The first time I rode it, I camped in Jasper, and Banff ... I had a SAG wagon transporting me around.
The second time I rode it 92002), I rode it straight through, so I didn't camp anywhere.
Two years ago I did a tour from Red Deer to Saskatchewan River Crossing and down to Banff. We camped at Waterfowl Lakes and then at Johnson's Canyon. Both were quite nice.
Just a comment about the stretch from Lake Louise to Banff ... it's fine. If you're not fond of a lot of traffic, ride the Bow Valley Parkway ... a beautiful little road which I've ridden more times than I remember. Your biggest "traffic" problems on that road will be the elk.

i went from mt robsin to radium hot springs about a month ago, it was an amazing trip, mt robsion is right outside of jasper and radium is just outside banff.
we had a van to carry all our crap which made the trip o much better, if you need more information just message me and i would love to give you the information of all the stops and km to each camp site.
