Is anyone else riding in the RAIN (Ride across Indiana?)? It’s not a race, but a mass start timed 160-mile ride across the state of Indiana. I have to say that I’m starting to get a little scared. That’s a long time in the saddle. I have two weeks left, and am riding 50 mile non-stop training rides 3 times a week, with a couple of 20 mile harder efforts thrown in. Does this sound like enough? As the day approaches, I am starting to doubt myself.

Doing 50 milers 3 times a week you should be ok.
just remember to pace yourself and eat/drink enough to
see you through.

when is that thing? I'm thinking of doing it myself.

As for your training, sounds like you're doing fine to me. If you have a few weeks, I would try to do one longer ride, focus on time in the saddle, not distance, do a nice 6 or 7 hour ride at an easy/moderate pace. This will also help you establish a nutrient replenishment system that works for you, ie when to eat and drink

The ride is July 12th. You can do a search on Ride across Indiana and you'll hit their website.

Thanks for the info. I didn’t know about the nutrient replenishment system thing.

Thanks for the help!

Michael,

check out Hammer Products E-Caps (www.e-caps.com)
they have some good info.
I'd suggest carrying some Gels, and if its warm
something like their endurolytes.
I just got some of their sustained energy formula
and plan on testing that on Hotter than Hell.
