Hi,

Just recently had my bike stolen (Ok it was a crapy hybrid). But I'm now looking to move up in the world to enjoy the pleasures of riding road bikes...:D

Now my question to people out there is.... (probably not worth asking but here goes).. Does anyone have a bad word to say about single speed bikes???? I've searched high and low on the internet to find out if there is anything I need to know before spending upwards of £500 on a single speed... But everyone seems to treat them like the greatest invention since the wheel.

I remain slightly sceptical because although I heardly used my gears on my hybrid, it was nice to know that on days (not many, I admit) I wasn't feeling up to it, I could drop my cog grear down to a 6...

please someone out there advise me:eek:

You should be ok on a single speed, you get used to using just one gear quicker than you might think (or I did at least when I started riding fixed:p ). Because of the hills where I live, I sometimes prefere a freewheel single speed over a fixed hub, maybe a flip flop hub/wheel is something to think about?
