I'm thinking of riding Palomar with a friend who lives in San Diego. How is this ride in late June early July? Is it too hot? Neither of us have done it before.

Thanks,

Jeff

Start early and it's more pleasant. It can get very hot out there. But definitely go for it. Worst that happens is that you decide to turn around and you can just coast back to the car.

in the those months, when it's baking, leave at first light. Takes 90-120 minutes to tackle the south grade, so if you leave at 5:30, you will summit aroiund 7, shouldn't be TOOO bad around that time.
