Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

That was a Compex machine. He's not so sure what to think about it...lol!
Awesome. Hopefully he won't have too much of a need for it. Great last entry on the blog, btw.
Good luck, godspeed, and I assume you'll be updating Georges miles daily on Bikejournal :p

I was getting on the I-15 South at Via Rancho Parkway this morning (oh, about 10:45 am) and saw a RAAM convoy...Team 7, I believe...a solo rider. So I had the opportunity to brag to my parents that I know someone riding RAAM, and I basked in the awesomeness I gained by cyberosmosis. Thanks George!
You kids have a swell time.

No worries, I'm sure you've got some other things on your mind. Go kick some @#@#$
I'm outta here! I'm leaving in a few minutes to take the Metrolink down to Oceanside for pictures and inspections, then a full day of RAAM commitments with some shopping sandwiched in between somehow. I'm sure that I'll blog later today. Please keep track of us everyday on the blog!

Good luck everyone!! Have fun
Go! go! Go! ride safe, ride fun....enjoy the experience for all of us! You'll ride more miles in the next week than I'll get all year!
Here is a RAAM story from a friend who has done it...
"Middle of the night, pitch black, cruising along a few days in. Suddenly, I saw a big eye, floating right in front of me! Oh my gawd! Panic..what the h***is this? Lack of sleep is bad. I'm losing it. Stopped to talk to the crew following closely behind.
'Guys, I've got a problem. I'm seeing things, it's bad. I saw a big eye!'
'Yeah, we saw it too.'
'What????'
pause.....
'You nearly hit a cow on the side of the road.'
Best of luck George and crew!

went down to the start to drop off some sponsor stuff and chat for a few. the bad news: motorhome is packed with junk food and it looks like we're all going to be sleeping on the roof. the good news: brandy bought lots of donuts and cookies!

Are you guys packing any protein supplementation/meal replacements?

probably for the riders. all i need are donuts and cheese puffs with the occasional hot dog or burger, so i'm good. don't really care about anyone else:D
i just droped(hehe) off 8 dozen detour bars (http://www.detourbar.com/) which are 350 claories each. does that count as a meal replacement?

Ooh. Lokelani.
Those should work. Just keep them in the RV/support car and not on the riders.

Is George starting the first leg? And if so, approximately how far will he ride before handing off to Rick?

pretty sure george is going first because he knows the roads from here out to lake henshaw. i think rick is suposed to take over somewhere near the bottom of palomar/76 and take it to lake henshaw for the first time station.

So...I went to RAAM's site earlier today, and the first solo rider got to the Flagstaff time station in 27:34. That's 27 hours, 34 minutes...488 freakin miles.
I doubt the guy's stopped yet...he's reached the 11th time stop in Kayenta, AZ, in 35 hours, 10 minutes. 637 miles.
You people are amazing.

Good luck guys, have a great time!
:::yawn::: Good morning everyone. Jason is correct, George will take the first pull leaving the parade zone and we'll make our first exchange at Harrah's. During the leapfrog support period we have designated exchange areas. He's also correct about the food...I boughts lots a donuts. :D I bought good food too though...salads! Don't ask how much I spent. I thought Rick was going to flip when he saw how much food I had in the back of the van. :p

How about this question instead? How much money did cancer awareness and research just lose out on? :p
Anyway, good luck, riders and crew. Hope you have a great race.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it -- and the breaks are beating the boys -- tell them to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Gipper... I don't know where I'll be then, Rock, but I'll know about it - and I'll be happy."
Best of luck. Be careful out there.
