"The 33"-Road Bike Racing - What the hell has DrPete gone and done this time?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. So, I kinda mentioned a while back that I wanted to upgrade my race wheels--my Fulcrums are great, but I wanted to find something that would offer a little bit bigger advantage in terms of weight and aerodynamics. Then a little extra $$$ came my way, and the rest is history. :)

Will it make me faster? Maybe a teeny tiny bit, otherwise probably not. Unless, of course, you count a little bit of placebo effect and pressure not to look like a doofus. :D Is it fun to bling out the bike? Oh hell yes.

After careful consideration, I just placed an order for one of the oh-so-nice options above. Those select few who know the answer, don't give it away... And incidentally, I've got a pair of Fulcrum 1's for sale. ;)

I'm going with the Reynolds. They are lighter than ZIPPs plus pcad already has those.

Very good reasoning, but you forgot the bling factor. I the zipps say"BLING". Way to go Doc!:D

Zipp 404, to match the Pinny. The Fulcrums have a Campy freehub, don't they?

Lithuania

it has to be the zipps

Any of those wheels say BLING in my book. I'm going to stick with the Reynolds 'cause I think ZIPPS are becoming a bit too popular. Pretty soon everyone will have them:D

For the bling that doesn't appear so ostentatious, but really is.

Do you ride Campy on the Pinarello? I assume so and my vote therefore is the Boras.

Otherwise the 404's...

Hmmmm...another good point! I don't see the doc as a Reynolds man. The lightweights would be awesome with the PT...Hmmmm would he ever go that far?! Great entertainment for a Friday afternoon! :D

Okay, then.

I voted for the Mike Garcia built Velocity Deep V's w/ Serenity hubs and Revolution spokes with purple nurples.

Only here in BF land, where I'm still middle-class in terms of bike schwag, would anyone even care what kind of wheels someone else bought. I too find strange delight in the purchases of other bike weenies, like when Greg180 bought up his SRM.

So anyway, it was just supposed to be fun. Sorry if it came across otherwise...

incorrect.

a Pinarello is a Pinarello.

a Pinny is what someone who has never owned a Pinrarello, or someone who doesn't know any better, calls said bicycle.

bdcheung

Like I said, those Bora's would look MIGHTY sweet on that Pinny.

I know DrPete loves lightweights, but they're just too pricey and don't match the Pinny.

let me throw down this gaunlet:

patentcad, killerpenguin, and botto go to maryland/NVa and open up A can of WHOOPASS sometime in august?

that way we can see if DrPete bought the 'correct' wheels.
