I'm getting a pair of Schwalbe Marathon Pluses in size 700x28 for touring this summer, but I'm wondering if I need to bring a spare tire. But since the Pluses are wired, can anyone recommend a good foldable tire to bring along? Thanks

I'm a big fan of the Panaracer Paselas with Tour Guard. However, I readily admit it isn't like I've tried many different brands... that said, I just completed a 1500 mile tour using the 700x35 size, largely on shoulders and a few trails, and didn't have a single flat. Anecdotal, I know, but they are indeed foldable.

Do the foldable Paselas run true to size? I know the wire bead version run small (the 35s are actually 32s), but I haven't heard if this is true with the kevlar bead version.

The Kevlars run small too. FWIW, I won't run Paselas any more. They're light for the size, but in my experience you pay for it in flats. That's even with the TGs.

What about Schwalbe Marathon XRs in 700x35? According to peter white cycles, they are foldable and pretty puncture resistant.

I like the Vittoria Randonneur Pros. Folding, lightweight, nice riding and tough, but I think they only come in 32mm and 35mm.

Well, unfortunately, I am limited to 700x25 or 700x28 because of my road bike frame. But please keep the comments and help coming. Thanks.
