so i took the day off work today to hang out with the kid this morning and then he went over to his uncles for the afternoon so i decided to get in a ride up rist canyon.
so i go about an hour up into the canyon and on my way back down i pass through bellvue... i'm going pretty fast off momentum from the canyon, probably 26-28 mph, and i'm coming up on this right turn to get back to town (i signal and everything) when this oncoming pickup makes the left in front of me, cuts me off, no question it was deliberate, he sat at the exchange for like 3 seconds before deciding to go.. dunno if he just wanted to scare me or what, but as he's turning i yell "*******" at him. his passenger seat window is open so he hears me.. and flips me off in the rearview. i return the gesture, at which point the dude pulls over into the dirt and gets out of the car as i'm riding down the road and starts running at me.
he's all "WHAT DID YOU CALL ME?" and i said "learn to drive *******, its called right-of-way".... hes a pretty big dude... looks sorta like vito from the sopranos, bot not quite as huge and more redneck. so he starts charging but realize theres no way hes gonna catch me on foot so he gets back in the car and i realize that now i've got a potential problem in the form of a pissed redneck in a pickup running me down on a country road. so i pull over and luckily i have cell phone signal and i call the co state patrol hotline....
dude pulls up behind me like he's gonna hit my bike but baulks, the chick answers the hotline and i start telling her whats up, meanwhile the dude gets out of his car again and starts yelling "WHAT DID YOU CALL ME? HUH?! WHAT DID YOU CALL ME?" and i turn to him and i'm all "do you mind? i'm on the phone with the colorado state patrol" and he stops dead and turns back around to his truck, as i give them his license plate number... he gets in and instead of going forward, the way he was going he does a three point turn in the road and turns around and goes back the way he came....
felt pretty good about how it went all in all, but i was looking over my shoulder the rest of the way home just in case he went and wrangled up a posse to come and jump me. had my phone in camera mode.
other than that it was a nice ride. the weather is perfect and i love riding the mountains during the week when they're not so crowded.
