Mountain Biking - Specialized Hardrock Comp Disc or Jamis Cross Country 2.0?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I posted here few days ago about which bike to get and did what you guys said and went to my local bike store, i tried out two bikes and i like them both, can you please help me decide which one i should buy.
Specialized Hardrock Comp Disc for $525

or Janis Cross Country 2.0 for $425

If there is one thing i like over the other it's the color, the Specialized bike comes in color called Satin Bronze Distressed which i really like (see below)

but it's not about the color for me, i just want a good quality bike that will last me.
Thanks in advance.
Hardrock, one of the main reasons being the brakes. The tektro's on the Jamis SUCK
Thanks for the quick and helpful reply Raiyn, brakes are pretty important to me, i didn't want to spend that much money but then i heard that Disc brakes are better then regular brakes.
bump.
any other suggestions on why i should buy one and not the other?
I hate to be a pest but i am about to spend $500 so i would appreciate some feedback.

both are good bikes from good companies. i prefer speacialized. i ride an '05 stumpjumper and freakin' love it. a friend of mine rides the Jamis dakota comp. i prefer the specialized to it, as my specialized ffels a little more solid, and feels a little quicker. but it's all preference. i like specialized because of the way they ride. whatever you buy, you need to be able to say the same thing. go ride them both- see what feels better to you, that's whats most important.
although when looking at the 2 bikes, i think for $100 more, you are getting better components and brakes on the specialized. in the long run, $100 wont hurt so much. plus, the brown paint on that specialized kicks a$$

hardrock. i used to ride a Jamis Exile, but i don't anymore. It was a little sluggish at times, and all of my friends who have specialized bikes love them.

If you can afford the Hardrock, get it.
It has better specs all around.
