Here is the situation: I now work at a bike shop and therefore get crazy good prices on pretty much everything I buy. The item that I have been waiting for a long time to purchase is a new wheelset. Here is the dilemna:
I ride an 07 CAAD9 which is in the process of being upgraded component wise (either campy or sram...not sure). It has shimano 561 wheelset which I enjoy and plan to keep as my commuter wheels. I also have an open pro laced to a PT pro which I use for training and racing. I will be ordering one of those new Pedal Force ZX3 frames through the groupbuy so I will also need a set of wheels for that. My plan as of now is to sell the PT pro and open pro on ebay and get as much as I can for that. Basically I am trying to decide on two wheelsets to get with my 561's being a commuter wheel/backup wheelset. I really like the reynolds alta race wheelset that is still available here and there on some sites online. Then again, for just a bit more I can get any of Easton's top wheelsets. I can also get a good deal on mavic cosmic carbones and purchase their 2year replacement policy.
Here are my major desires: I would prefer silver rims. I need something that is PT compatible. I prefer to stay away from CF unless it is the mavics as they offer the crash replacement super cheap for employees. I am a light rider at 69kg but I still prefer bombproof wheels just for insurance. These will be raced on, trained on, and ridden hard on.
Any advice is appreciated!
