Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Nice bike..what's the weight

I have seen some pretty nice fixed gear bikes on this site....and I am curious as to how much..or little they weigh. I know my cookie cutter fixed gear (925) is about 23 or 24 lbs, but with the right frame and equipment they must get down to sub 15. I realize the fixed gear urban jungle bike needs to be strong and low weight may not be a priority. What size is yours and what do have on it to keep the weight down......Do I hear 13 pounds.

I searched the threads for weight and could not find anything.

i will never weigh any of my bikes. i've never seen anyone pleased with the weight of their bike. besides, i could really care less, esp with my commuter.

My track bike weighs about 7.5kg/16.5lbs. It's a 56cm frame and I haven't done anything to minimise weight when it comes to component purchases.

Pretty sure my hardtail mountain bike weighs twice that.

One fixie weighs about 18lb. and t'other weighs about 17, so in either case, less than my road bike.

Mine is around 20lbs with fenders and a leather saddle.

the IRO's come in at just over 18lbs built with IRO parts

my tsunami with race tires weighed 17.3lbs, almost 19lbs with armadillos

my schwinn worldsport conversion is just over 23lbs

if you use light wheels and tires 16lbs isnt too tough to get to, after that its starts getting really expensive

Will you really notice the difference between 15 and 20lbs for everyday riding though? Shaving a few miliseconds off my time generally isn't much of a concern to me. I've gotta admit though, I'm also curious as to how much some of those lugged steel beauties must weigh.

I do notice a difference between my fixed gear and geared bike but that's probably a 10lb difference or more. My Specialized comes in at 15.62lbs.

My Cannondale Capo weighs 16.7 pounds in its commuting mode (with brake, etc.) and 16 in its track mode. This I am very, very satisfied with. I must admit, though, that I'm planning on building up a pair of tubulars for the track that will coincidentally be somewhat lighter than the bombproof deep-v's I have on their now. But that's not the main reason I want another wheelset.

Those lugged steel beauties can be quite light. Lugs originally were meant to save some weight over the primitive welding methods available at the time. Nowadays I assume it's slightly lighter to just weld it, given the lack of lugged steel frames available. I have a high-tensile lugged frame that probably weighs twice what today's carbon frames do, along with standard components including steel bars and stem, and it weighs in at about 20lbs.

my steel lugged 56cm frame weighs about 18lbs, maybe a little less. nothing too fancy on it, old campy cranks, cheap cartridge BB, lots of 1/8" chain, mks pedals and double staps, turbo saddle.

my pake w/ deep v's weighs about 21 lbs. i think it's about as heavy as you can get without using an old steel road frame (of marginal to poor tubing) or any superfluousness (fenders, rack, etc) but i like it. i am eager to see how much my IRO group order bike will turn out.

my brassknuckle is about 18lbs, the wheels(MA3, 32 straight-gauge spokes, Miche hubs) weigh a lot but are bombproof.

My first fixed which was a bianchi conversion weighed sooooo little. I never weighed it but it was lighter than all of my friends bikes. My soma is definitly not as light, but its not even close to heavy.

My Noni conversion is 22 pounds with fenders, brooks and a full bottle of water.

My singlespeed (with brakes and all that) is 9,3 kgs.

my BK is about 16lbs

my panasonic weighed in at 19 at april fools.

yup. a riding buddy of mine moved his carbon suzue/open pro wheels from his pista to his new superlight alu frame. both bikes were ridiculously light because of these wheels, and from my quick spin on each, i could definitely tell the difference. i'd be curious to ride such a light bike for longer to get more aquainted with the feel, but it just felt light, zippy, easy to throw around. kind of magical.

hmm, i've got the same bike but 53cm. not sure of the weight but i do know my friend's newer keirin bike is a bit lighter due to super nice kaisei tubing. i'm running velocity fusion's on mine, and an assortment of standard components. you got any pics though?

I have a Schwinn Continental that might weight ~30 lbs.

strange, maybe she has heavier components or something... old bridgestone grand velo's are tange champ no. 2 tubing which is midwight, newer ones are more likely to be kaisei 019 or something similar so a little lighter but not extremely so...

My 54cm Waterford weighs 19 lbs with the sew-up wheels (Mavic Reflexs w/ DA high flange 32h) vs 20 lbs. with clinchers (Mavic Open Pro w/ Phils high flange 32h).

She made of Reynolds 531 with lugs, threaded steel fork so not as svelte as Al or CF FG bikes.:(

But she has such a sweet, responsive ride I hardly notice the weight.;)

I have no idea how much my stock Langster '07 (54cm & relatively stock) weighs. I've heard speculation of everything from 19 to 21 lbs. I do keep track of the weight of my Cannondale CX bike, which is around 22 lbs, but will be lighter when I switch to a new wheelset to drop about two pounds. I'm kinda tempted to also swap out the wheelset on my Langster, at which time I would begin keeping track of the weight.

Still, if somebody had the money to play with, I'm sure a 10lb singlespeed/FG could be created (the 10lbs is a rough guestimate, I'm sure that single digit weight could be obtained as could a drool-a-licious peice of bike porn).

My Panasonic Sport 1000 conversion is a hefty 21 lbs. My wheelset isn't particularly light though.
