I raced today.

I still have all of my teeth.

That is all.

How'd you do?

botto

Then we are to assume that the rubber side was not kept down, as they say.

incorrect.

although if the roles had been reversed, i'm pretty sure the schmuck who put his foot into my front wheel would have done a face plant.

Oh the drama....DAMN....I can't leave yet now.

(...meantime, as he waits for details from botto....can you help him make up his mind....should I RIDE 36 miles out of town TO the lake house, then cut the grass there....OR....should I drive there, cut the grass, THEN go on a 36-mile ride out in the countryside?)

it should ride there, cut the grass, then ride back home.

Hipcycler

...come on botto....

1. Make up my mind for me on my ride today. The sun is out and it's 72 degrees...light wind. What's it gonna be? Ride to the lake and then cut the grass or drive to the lake, cut the grass and THEN ride out in the country?

2. Why would a guy stick his foot into your wheel?
Accident=lame
Breaking Away-like=now we've got a story

Mrs. Hip meeting me there via car later this evening....no ride home.

Hmmm....ride there 36 miles....see how I feel....keep going and do the added 35-mile hilly Kettle Moraine route....THEN cut grass (tomorrow?!)

Okay....I'm heading to the cycling room to change for the ride to the lake. When I get back here I expect some details....somebody didn't keep the rubber side down in this deal!
I have to know before I head off on the ride out of town.

Buy Porsche.

...it's an option.
Lake house is a lot of fun, but it's a lot of work.

There....now I've bought botto more time to get back to what we really want to know...what the heck happened at his race....

Do people race for clubs/teams in these races or is it mainly unattached folks?

This particular race was an unlicensed race (as in nobody has a license) so it's mainly unattached.

Kind of wish I had waited to do the next race, because there was a former Dutch Olympic Team Pursuiter, a guy from Milram, a guy from Slipstream, and Steven Rooks in the field.

If you don't know who Rooks is, he's the guy on the right in the pic below. ;)

Enjoyed reading the full blog report. I have one superstition that relates to shoes. Any shoes, not just cycling. The left shoe MUST go on first as disaster may ensue otherwise. This can be awkward at shoe stores, where they usually bring out a right shoe. 'Um...sorry...could you bring me a left shoe please?'

Bizarre...I'm EXACTLY the same way.
I shall never, ever, ever put the right shoe on first.
Never.

botto....swear to God I absolutely did what you suggested.
I did them BOTH, then cut all the grass by hand afterward!

There was one very steep hill late in the afternoon sun...I almost had that thought about, 'oh-oh, what if I have to stop? How do I unclip here? NO. MUST NOT STOP. CRANK, CRANK, CRANK...WHAT WOULD BOTTO DO TO ME IF HE FOUND OUT....MUST NOT STOP...'

...and then there I was at the top of the hill!
true story...:D
