BMX - now pimpin' aint easy...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
...but its necessary.
so i got the idea the other day to actually start pushing myself in bmx. no more just feebles, double pegs, jumping dirt, etc.
so i'm like "hey, i should learn 180's, it seems like the right thing to do".
so i can get the full rotation, theres just somthing weird about landing it.
i dont want any "how-to's"
just really, does anyone have any special tips or things they do to help them get spins and such down and landed well?

Turn yer head and body more. You would have gotten one or two at the park the other day, but you kept taking your foot off.

Just stay on no matter what, thats what I learnt. No taking feet off or anything. And for spinning, try and bite your shoulder

Don't tell him that, he'll actually try it. Just look over your shoulder.

I'm just learning them but when you land, throw your ass over the seat so that if you dont have enough speed you can still roll out. And don't land on your back tire because you'll flip backwards.

Hahaha. I always heard the expression that you should try to bite your shoulder, so I didn't really read that.

Sometimes if you go slower things work out better.

That didn't work for Gunz. :D
Last i saw mude doing 180's he was going plenty fast. On a good flyout bank at the local skatepark. He's just gotta spin a bit faster, and turn his body with his head. And keep the foot on.

I just started practicing to on a really heavy bike, I usually find where the road and grass meet, and if the grass part is a bit higher it will help you to get a little air. But i should be getting a new bike today so we'll see how it works with no help from the grass.

I just tried some 180's yesterday in the rain (with caution). I made sure not to go the whole rotation because I knew I'd probably slip off the bike or that I would be unable to fakie out. I know I can get the 180 around, I just need to be able to get out of fakies more consistently.

I rode right after the rain. I love hopping trash bins laying down and leaf bags.

Rain sucks, it makes my feet fall off my already ungrippy pedals. It also makes it difficult to stop by putting my foot in my tire.
