Bicycle Mechanics - Is there suppose to be a slight wiggle from the wheels?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I finally installed my Mavic Crossmaxes and I noticed that the front and rear hubs have a very slight freeplay when installed. When I say freeplay, I mean that the rim has a very slight wiggle.
Is it suppose to be like that?
Thx!

I like to note that the wiggle is very slight and it doesn't affect riding. My old old bike did not have this which is why I have concerns and the fact that these CrossMaxes weren't cheap.
do you mean to say that your rims aren't true?

No they should be tight with no play, but still turn freely by hand.

Sounds like maybe the bearings are a bit loose, or maybe you can try tighteneing up the quick release on the wheels a bit. I thought my rear bearing was coming loose, but i slightly tightened the quick release and the freeplay disappeaered.

The Crossmaxes should come with a bearing-adjustment tool.

I looked at it and I realized I put in some aftermarket skewers which are smaller than the ones it came with which I sold. :(
Going to stop by LBS and try out new skewers.
After taking out the wheel, the bearing does seem to be tight, so I'm hoping it's the skewers.
Thx!

If you look at the left end of the hubs, see those holes for a spanner? That's where the bearing-adjustment tool fits. It is shaped something reminiscent of the tool pictured below, except for that it's much smaller, made of black nylon, and has pegs to fit into those holes:

The skewers should not be the problem unless they fail to get the wheels clamped to the frame/fork at all.
I don't think the crossmax hubs are adjusted like that. all you do is take out the skewers---> see the holes at the end?----->they are shaped like allen wrenches---->stick in allen wrenches and tighten---->stick skewer back in.
Either that or the more conventional locking nut.

I have a Crossmax adjustment tool of my own :) but they may have changed the hub design since then, so maybe I'm off base.

Thanks EVERYONE!
I used that special tool(the one with 4 pins) that came with the wheels and tightened it slightly and probem no more!
