I went to the Denver Police bike auction today, it was amazing how high the bikes were getting auctioned off for! There was also a ton of people there which could have been contributing, but who would buy a shiny Walmart bike for $150?

Used bike prices are out of control and it's really pissing me off. It's hard enough finding a bike large enough for me as it is, but now I can't even afford any of them when I do find them!
You're not kidding! Craigslist sellers have officially lost their minds, at least in KC. A 3-year-old bike that's "only been ridden 5 times" is not worth 80% of original MSRP. You Fail.

True dat. They are looney all over the board.
Before I purchased my last bike I looked at thrift shops, craigslist, bike stores, ebay, and on and on.
Finally concluded that I might as well support my LBS instead. That and I wanted a CF bike so.....

I've noticed the same thing. Even for 15 year old bikes!

I think a large part of the used bike price rise is the result of the Fixie gear culture. All of a sudden, people are carving older bikes to convert into commuters.
