View Full Version : 75 Miles of Love

Today provided yet another reason why I love cycling. I rode 75 miles in a charity event (with another 75 miles slated for tomorrow). The scenery in Virginia was wonderful, as always. The companionship was delightful. The rest stops were just the right distance apart from each other and well stocked (Thanks volunteers!), and the weather was just about right.

At the conclusion of the event, there were massages, a wine tasting and a fantastic dinner. Somewhere in the midst of it, a 20-something woman actually told me, "I love you." (It had something to do with saving her bike from a would-be thief).

I don't think it gets any better than this.

You're right, it doesn't get any better. And it's all because you shaved, don't you think? :D

True that, Gee. The hair on my legs, like the hair on my head, remains stubbornly bashful. I doh't think I'll need to shave again in this decade. Oh, and one other thing: This time I wore my bibs under my jersey, not over it. And I left the tighty-whities at home. That seemed to be a good idea.

After 75 miles, lots of wine and food they all look 20

Congratulations and good luck tomorrow!

Hmmm. She told me she just graduated from college. Maybe she meant 1957.

Smooth legs
Fashion bibs
A body that can do back to back 75 milers
And a gosh-darn hero to boot.

How could any woman resist him?

Agree about the Hero bit, but after Today- It might be Idiot. Back to back long rides are not for me. rather do it all in one go.

As to the smooth legs- Bibs and the body- want pics of that.

P.S. post the pics after 9 pm so as not to excite the Youngsters That seem to be joining this elite group.

Sounds like a great ride with terrific rewards at the end! I'm in suspense until I hear the end of the love story tonight.
