Hello, all --
I just bought my Dahon a pair of Schwalbe Big Apples to replace my aging 65psi Kenda Kwests. They're fine, but hardly the life-changing experience I was expecting (they don't seem to be noticeably faster or significantly more cushiony). What experiences have other people had with them? And what pressure should I run them at? I running them around 50psi right now -- should I go higher or lower?

I'm also entertaining the possibility that, this being China, I've actually bought myself a pair of knock-offs... if someone with a real pair could take some photos so I could compare, that would be fantastic!

Thanks in advance.

I run mine at various pressures. For a cushy ride, not over 40psi probably less. If I want to pedal easier, 65psi.

I don't think you are going to notice all that big a difference over the Kendas - they are one of the unsung heros of the tyre world, IMHO.

The Big Apples should be more flat resistant because they have a kevlar belt under the tread. I don't have a lot of experience to compare, but I didn't notice any change in feel on my Downtube Mini vs. the stock Kendas.

Sounds like my 50 psi is precisely the wrong pressure! :D

I always though the Kwests were pretty decent, but they were getting old -- and I found a fantastic deal online for the Big Apples: two new tires for RMB 135, including next-day shipping! That comes out to US$17.63 or about AUS$21

It's interesting that you say that, PC. I was about to get Big Apples for my mini, but now I think I'll go with the Marathon HS 308 - you get the Kevlar Belt, plus they weigh less than the BAs.

well ... lol with the pressure right in the middle you wont experience the superb rolling resistance ( or lack theroff) and you wont have the cool tire suspension either ....go up to 65 plus for fast or down to 40 for comfy ....

and although the kwest is a great tire ... it cannot do both things which such an authority like the big apples

course I am biased ... I sell them ( it would be easy to sell quests'though as well )
