High Plains Drifter that is.
Every different place I've been to on the truck, it still seems like I'm all by myself out there.
I'll walk into a store or restaurant, and I'll occassionally get that "that dude looks vengeful" face.
A pedestrian here and there, but no one else on a bike.
That's why I feel right at home when that movie comes on.
And in case you wonder, day-riding doesn't seem to help the problem either.
Point of this was the fact that I posted a thread about this some time ago.
Apparently, my situation hasn't really changed all that much since then.
I'm still crossing fingers that I'll run right into the phantom pack of riders I've been long wanting to encounter.
With night vision cam for spectral quality.

Do you live in a really remote area where there aren't many riders? Are you riding at 2am? I'm not following. :o

Not really remote... just open desert. If you've driven to Vegas on I 15, then you've past it.
But there must be some good riding w/o cars to get in the way!

I guess some of my griping could be attributed to my own habits, others are just a result of bad timing/location.
For starters, I'm naturally a night-owl anyway, and second, everyone seems to enjoy their cars alot more up here in Apple Valley.
With the houses still going up, theres going to be plenty of cars wandering every stretch of road up here.
As far as my trucking job goes, my company has this bad habit of keeping me in cool areas for a short time, and leaving me in sucky ones for a long time.
For instance, I was at the Swift terminal outside of Portland, OR several weeks back.
I've never been up there with my bike, so after dropping a trailer in the yard, I was beginning to unfold my bike. Before I even get away from the truck, my Qualcomm beeps and tells me to pick up and deliver a load to Sumner, WA immediately.
With that said, I'm looking forward to the days where I'm able to ride around the city on a daily basis.
Perhaps if my plan to ditch the desert for....say LA goes well, then I may never have to bring this up again:)

Riding up to Apple Valley is great! In the fall, when riding around there, you can just smell the apples.

I think the Apple Valley to which the OP refers is the one in San Bernardino County. You won't find a lot of apples there outside the produce section of the supermarket.

Maybe alfalfa fields and personal trees, but that's about it.
About the only quiet place around here IMO would be the far northeastern section of town where the rocky hills begin to pop up.
I'll admit, this is nice scenery on a calm, sunny day.
