Road Cycling - Where to get CO2?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
The markup on CO2 at bike shops is a crime. Do the kind that go in BB guns work? They are 12g and are about $7 for 12.
If they fit in your inflator they work. A 12g threadless cartridge is a 12g threadless cartridege, as far as I know.
You can get C02 cheaper at a "Mart" or, if you buy a bunch of cartridges, from places on the internet. I got 50 once for under $20, don't remember where, though.
I've never bought CO2 from a bike shop. Wal-Mart has a box of 25 - 12 oz for $11.99!!!
Happy inflating!

I like to help my LBS guy too, but they do charge too much for CO2. WalMart, or a paintball shop or gun store. Best -
The guys at the bike shop told me the better deal was at Wal-Mart!
Anybody know any place to get a good deal on threaded Co2 cartridges?
A friend of mine is in the alarm installation and monitoring business. On several occasions he has brought buckets full of threaded CO2 cartridges to our club meetings and has given them away.
I don't exactly know what they are used for in his business but he once explained that they have something to do with some types of business alarms. Due to some fire code they have to be changed every 2 years and can not be reused so at certain times of the year he has hundreds of them.
You might check with some of your local alarm companies and ask them if they would consider giving you some or selling them for a cheap price.
Just a thought.
