10. They are faster. No pigments to cause aerodynamic drag.

9. They always look cleaner.

8. They can go with any color jersey, so they work well for OCPs.

7. They are lighter. Colors come from adding "pig"ments to white paint. Those "pig"ments add weight to the bike.

6. White bikes look good on any color car, if you are hauling them somewhere.

5. White bikes show off their decals better, if you have decals and want people to notice them.

4. Whit bikes look great with any color handlebar tape.

3. They are not as common, so not every Tom, Dick and Harry is riding one.

2. They still look good, even in black and white photographs.

And the #1 reason White Bikes are the Best is.......

1. MY BIKE IS WHITE!

Can't argue with that- I am astounded that you even chose a white bike in the first place. Look what happens when you go out on a winter ride and it snows. In the time it takes you to stop and put on your Goretex suit- You have lost the bike in the background.

I like white bikes. It isn't my favorite color, but can look pretty sharp.

I've always wanted a white bike but never had one. For some reason, they even look lighter.

White is okay I guess if you must have paint. Of course if your bike was TITANIUM it wouldn't even need paint

White bikes are OK if you can't afford one with real paint on it I guess.

White bikes are very difficult to to touch up . . . too many variations/shades of 'white!'
Conversely, black bikes are best:
Easier to touch up; you also can use any color jersey/bartape; 'warmer' color for winter riding (and you can finds it easier in a snowbank!). Waxes up glossier than white.
Speaking from experience: owned one white bike (1974 Peugeot PX 10) and painted it black . . . the only black PX around; others where either white or blue and some brown ones in Canada.
Black: classical!

I was poisoned at an early age against black. My neighbor had gallons of black paint in his basement. He had a farm with lots of old equipment. As he fixed stuff up over the years, he always painted it black. And some of our old stuff got painted black too. It became a symbol of being a hand-me-down instead of something nice, shiny, and new.

So to me, whenever I see a black car, black bicycle, black wheelbarrow, whatever, my first impression is that it is old and cheap and was painted black to cover up its dents and rust. Even if it is on the showroom floor.

This has carried over to me having never owned a black car, bike, or even any black clothes!

But I have seen some cars that looked great in gloss black, like some 1930's rods. Maybe I could learn to love a black bike.

If white bikes are so desirable,,,, then they must be magnets for thieves
My Thorn is black and looks like a cheap hack when parked next to other bikes, not desirable to thieves

Black works for me

I guess our early childhood experience with colors might influence our choices in later life. My dad bought a new car every couple years and it was always black. I've always associated black with formal occasions - black tie affairs. Maybe that's why all the bikes in my garage are black or gray:)

Nonononono, Ti is much faster. And you are wrong. Most white pigments
are based on titanium dioxide. So, instead of real Ti you just got the
pigment. On top of that the pigment and carrier weight can be measured
in grams!! Egads, yes, grams!! No pigments would be better, oink.

Are you saying they are "ti-dyed"?

Those Look's with the integrated seat posts are really sharp. The Asian guy who sold me my white bike said that white was the most powerful color, in a feng shui sense.

My white ca. 1974 Peugeot UO-8 was pretty sharp-looking for a basic bike boom 10-speed. When I worked at a Peugeot bike shop in the early 1970s, white was by far the most popular color with customers. I have posted this before, but one of my early 1970s cycling buddies claimed that "God rides a white Masi." We couldn't pass (or be passed by) a white Masi without him commenting, "Well, the bike is the real thing, but I doubt the rider is." :)

For 14 years I drove a white-with-red interior 1989 Dodge Spirit LE, which looked much nicer than most other cheapo $12k cars out there.

Have to agree that this is one colour that does get my attention. That celeste is heavenly, Or I could downgrade the new bike to a White C.F. One but I don't think so.

Just the other day, while riding home from a BACA meeting, I was contemplating how great BLACK bikes are. Now, I've had a white bike before, a lovely Peugeot U08. But it ends up looking kinda pasty next to a nice black bike.

Colors coordinate better. It was easy to find a matching bell and fenders. Show dirt? Never. And when it's clean there is no reflection more pleasing than the reflections on a black bike. The graphics show up. It's scientifically proven that there is no color combination with more contrast than yellow on black. With it's black tires, no bike has better color coordination than black. I've also had red, green, orange, blue, yellow, and purple bikes and one with a wild multi-color paint scheme. But black has the most class. :D

As I was chatting with the salesguy at a bike shop today, we got to talking about his bike. It was a brand new Orbea Orca. Eventually I asked if he got a good discount on it through the shop and he told me that he got it free. He made the cut onto an "A-level" racing team and everyone on that team got an Orca.
