Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Today was the big day, I picked up my new road bike. But the process was not smooth. When I got to the shop the bike still had not been built, the mechanics had forgotten to do it. Then I had to pick new pedals for the toe clips. Since I had to wait for another hour I never got to go on a test ride.
But I have my new bike, and it looks great. Tomorrow I will go for a test ride to get a feel for my new ride. I am going to borrow a friend's digital camera and take a few pictures to share.
Busy time of year. I has the exact same thing happen last week. Went in to pick up wife's bike, spent the whole afternoon at the shop. I am not complaining, I used the time to get a couple things squared away on my bike.
I have seen similar things happen in other service places (car repair, dentists, whatever). Emergencies happen. Then they get stuck playing catch up.
They are the shoveling the tide as fast as they can. I brought muffins in for everybody in the shop a couple weeks ago, a smile and a muffin (really, really good muffins) can work wonders some days....

I tried to be understanding, but the manager was really rude. I wouldn't have minded so much if I hadn't gone through the trouble to make sure I was giving them enough time to get it done. The mechanic was really considerate and apologized, but the manager acted like I was inconviencing her. Either way I walked out of there with my new bike. So in my book it is all good. I am definitely going to do something nice for the mechanic since he hustled to get my bike together.

I bought a 2003 Fuji Club SE, steel (Reynolds 520), tiagra components, with a triple (I have bad knees and like hills). It looks exactly like the Ace SE.
The shifting was amazing on the test ride, I can't wait to test her out tomorrow. There are a couple of hills that are begging to be conquered. The bike is so much lighter than the Peugeot, so I am curious to see if my average speed will increase.

Maybe the manager could use muffins.
Really,
that is surprising. I am sorry you are having problems with the manager.
In that sort of situation I usually take my business elsewhere. Good luck with the bike.
