Fifty Plus (50+) - Finally, Leading First Group Ride for "Seniors"

Finally, Leading First Group Ride for "Seniors" this year in my church.

Last scheduled first ride was "snowed out."

It will be a first gentle ride - for the beginners or out of shape, we will go 6 miles, and then the rest of us will continue for another 9 miles or so. Ages range from about 62 up to 80+ or so.

We are leaving from my house which is right on our MUP. First we will go north for 3 miles and return, then south for 4.5 miles and return.

Actually, we are called the XYZ'rs - supposedly eXtra Years of Zest.

It is difficult to find a word all agree on. I hate the XYZ - it implies the end of something.

But, try and find a name everyone agrees to?

We are also using "mature."

This is why we chose "50+" for this forum. It is descriptive without being perjorative (I hope).

I think it's great when organizations hold these types of rides for seniors and beginners. Let us know how it goes.

How about the Second Childhood group?

Denotes the desire to have fun but that it isn't open to 12 year-olds.

How about "Classic" group?

Dotagers? Man, it's hard to find a neutral word for age enhanced models that somebody doesn't hate.

Whatever they call your group, doesn't really matter as long as everyone complete the ride. Lead them to the finish line young man.

Hundreds of miles of similar trails, all interconnected! Almost all with no or very few street crossings. Here are the main ones in the Denver metro area. The map is getting a bit old - there are now more trails.

Not on a Monday morning. Practically no one around.

Had a great ride.

There were 8 of us. My wife rode for a short distance, and then we were joined by the wife of one of the riders. Five of us went the full 15 miles. At one of the break spots there was a guy by himself playing the guitar. He ws great. He has grown up in Gospel and Blues - his parents knew Buddy Holly and all the rest, and he has toured the world.

We all sang some gospel songs to his accompaniment. I invited him to come to my group of 8 gospel singers. I doubt he will, but it would sure be fun..

It was hot (for us, that is) but we took life easy and enjoyed ourselves.

Then I went out for another 20 solo miles.

Fun!

They were taken south of my home on the S Cherry Creek Trail in the town of Parker.

However, many of the trails in the Denver area follow stream beds and are scenic.

Whatever they call your group, doesn't really matter as long as everyone complete the ride. Lead them to the finish line young man.
