"The 33"-Road Bike Racing - Zipp Tangente Tubulars--Anyone raced on these?

Just saw these on Zipp's website. They're out of stock right now so I've got some Vittoria Corsa Evo CX's coming for the new wheels, but I was curious if anyone had used these. They claim an additional 1-3 watt aerodynamic benefit with the dimpled tread, and they're pretty freakishly light at 232g.

Anyone tried them? There's a clincher version too that weighs in at 178g. :eek:

I need to know what <$90 tubular tire folds up into the MOST COMPACT SPARE. My LBS recommended a Conti Podium, but @ $130, it was too pricey even for PCad's Bottomless Bike Schwag Budget.

Apparently pretty well from all I've read/heard. I've ordered one to keep in my pocket for RR's with no wheel van, or for a circuit with no free lap.

^^^^ supposedly it works well. I carried a can of it with me , as well as a spare tubular when I did Brasstown Bald Century on my Zipp tubulars. According to reports it will take care of just about everything but cuts in the tire's casing. I figured with a spare and the Pit Stop, I could hadle two flats, including one catastrophic failure.

I have used it in a tufo and a veloflex and both times it has worked great and only adds a couple of grams.

Pete- the rolling resistance tests show the zipp tires to be ok but still not as good as the veloflex, dugast or fmb.

those tires weigh more like 260grams from what we weighed at the shop.

I would just got with a competition, sprinter, or corsa cx.

Ive ridden the sprinters a bit and they are really nice, feel awesome in corners.

I hadn't heard this. That would be a major drawback considering the big valve extenders on the Zipps...

yes you can pcad. Fill the tire spin it, after about a day or so you should be able to drain out the co2 and refill the tire. If you drain the tire the same day it will foam out a bit. After the tire is sealed the extra sealant will act as a puncture barrier for a couple months.

By 'drain out the CO2' do you mean let out the gas by depressing the presta valve and refilling the tire with regular air from a pump?

Considering how much it costs to cast a little tiny single-crystal turbine blade, I shudder to think of how much a bicycle frame would cost.
