View Full Version : Alpe D'Huez and Galabier will have to wait a day
Took a two hour ride on one of my usual routes--usually doesn't take two hours either. There are three hills and the second one literally kicked my rear.
At 60 years old, it doesn't take much time laying off to lose a LOT of conditioning. Took a vacation and had some work issues that prevented my riding much last several weeks---gonna be a big price to pay to get that conditioning back--especially in this heat.
But I still loved riding this morning:love:

Thought we had another European on holiday. Go to France on Wednesday and all ready for the trip up a hill or two. Providing the hangover doesn't get me first.

Have a great trip, and just think of the wine when you get up the hills!

Just found out that the Race "Dauphin Libere" is on this week and Not certain what day they go up- but they are climbing Ventoux. Now if I can get the wife to drop me 60 miles away at Malaucene at 6AM?????
I could climb/crawl up it, get the pics- get halfway down and get pics of the pelaton and then cycle back to the campsite. I'll put the crash helmet on and ask the wife.
Now as to that lay off period- It does not last long- you have done the ride you wished you hadn't so it will be back to normal now.

Keep riding and improving

What I see of people going on those river paths over in Germany, I think that would be awsome. Just kind of going along at a nice pace for the whole day, that would be great wouldn't it?

Yes I saw the prologue on TV here - Wiggins won by 1sec!!
I'll watch the rest of it next Sunday. They have Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen commentating as usual for the big events. Great pair!
Take care!
They go up Ventoux on the 14th. I believe

Bu**er. Won't be in the area till midday so No chance of getting a shoe horn within 50 miles of Ventoux that day.
Then you will have to ride up when you get the chance, just for the hell of it.
A coffee in Chateau Reynard, on the way down of course ( to Bedoin), is a great experience. Because you can watch loads of cyclists still going up.
cheers
george
