Better chain? I have until 4:30 MST to decide. Only those two options.

i got 3 months out of a 10 spd DA chain before it started skipping.
replaced it with the superlight sram chain, because it was the only one in stock at the lbs (which costs a ridiculous amount of cash - 70$ :eek:)

that was in early august. rode the bike through the 1st week of october, then put it away. started using it again on the last weekend of March.
Have put in a LOT of hours since then and still no probs (but most likely i'll be putting a new chain on it next Monday).
it'll be a DA chain, but that's only because i have one kickig around.

All last season I used Dura Ace chains and could never even get 2,000 miles out of them before they were too stretched and needed to be replaced.
I've been riding with the SRAM chain that came with my Force group since late Feb (over 4,000 miles) and it's still shifting flawlessly and has not stretched enough to be replaced.
My LBS mechanic said he's had similar experiece with other riders.
When I need to replace it I'll definitely stay with SRAM.

+1. 2K miles and almost 1/16" of wear. Similar Ultegra has no measureable wear.

Go with the other one.:)
(I like Wipperman, but I would chose SRAM over Shimano for chains. They are so much easier to take off and on to clean.)

I run SRAM on all my bikes, but the PC-99 is loud like a Wipperman. It shifts really cleanly on my Ultegra setup, but there's a loud "thunk" whenever it engages. There's a noticeable buzz whenever the chain is slightly out of line. Bottom line: best bang for your buck, but if you like a quiet drivetrain, stick with the Shimano chain.
