I am very excited, we bought a Trek 7.3FX at cost ($300) from our LBS for my wife two weeks ago. We are both wanting to get into shape, with the goal of riding centuries by the end of the year. We have been riding just about everyday, and though I am a commuter, and have several years of riding under my belt, my wife is a total noob.

Tonight we did an entire car free ride from the house, to dinner, and home for a 9.5 mile trip. This week (from Sat.) we are at about 25 miles! I am very proud of my wife and I just wanted to post here to show it! :)

Now she is hooked! She comes home from work and wants to ride, it's fantastic. I have been taking her on progressively harder rides with tonight been fairly laid back for mostly enjoyment only. In the next days I plan on introducing her to my fitness routes around town, and hunkering down to improve our overall health and fitness.

Oh, and I taught here the term 'cager' as we got yelled at by some JAM today :D

Cool beans! Did you mean JAM, though or was that a reference to a J A "Blowhard" driver?:p

Actually, it's great to hear you are riding together and enjoying it! That'll keep both of you riding.

Careful, she will want all of the cool upgrades first. That puts a cramp on you getting cool new toys.

Yeah, that was my thought, too. You won't be able to get a new carbon fiber widgit without getting her one, too. Your bike shop bill just doubled, pal!;)

Yeah I know, but I am willing if I get to ride with her often! She is very short compared to me, and cycling is a great leveler. Once we are in good shape, it will not matter much about pace, we have the same gearing. I have tried running with her and it just isn't fair. She practically takes 2 steps to my one, so it is hard to pace each other.

I can live without getting goodies...actually this may help keep me from spending when I don't need to. I know if I want that impulse widget whatever, I'm looking at getting two.

I'm just glad you two ride together!

I'm assuming from the name, you're from Tx?

You know.... If she keeps riding and enjoying it, you might be a likely candidate for a tandem. Try before you buy, though. Tandems can make you or break you as a couple.
