General Cycling Discussion - Feel so cheated.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Today I put on my Bike Forum jersey and got in a 30 miler up my fovoritie hills. Ideal, blue skies, upper 70's, still some remaining smells of orange blossoms, could see down into the valleys probbly 5-6 miles. Crystal clear nice breeze.
So feel so cheated. Tomorrow they do my shoulder with roto cuff repair will be off the bike maybe 3 months. Though the months of recovery I will remember how nice today's ride was and how eager I will be to get back on the bike.

cyclezalot, if its any consolation, I went for my first ride in 3 weeks.
10k round the neighborhood fortunatley including my 5 favorite hillclimbs. with my wife recently having twins, it looks like Im going to be lucky to get theese rides in once a week, if that, for the next couple of months.

I'll certainly ride one for ya, cyclezealot! You can live vicariously through all our experiences. Hopefully, that will work for you. In the meantime, see your physcial therapist, get yourself back into tip-top shape, and come back when you get your doctor's approval so you don't end up reaggrevating the injury and have to take more time off the bike!
Take care, and hope to see you all healed soon!

Take Koffee's advice seriously, theres no point in rushing back and having to take even more time off.
I hope you have a complete and speedy recovery, Portent.

Thanks all. I just locked away my main bikes and put my hybrid on the trainer. Sort of feels like putting away your sports equiptment for the season, but this is the best season of the year.
Really had a great- beautiful ride today. Went with friend who rescued me after my accident. You all ride well and thanks. At least in a week I will have my trainer in front of the TV so I can watch the Tour De France on OLN and if really hot, I might think there is some consolidation.
Heah, The Bike Forum jerseys are really sharp.. Stopped at coffee shop and one other biker asked about the design.
So far this year I did 3227 miles for the year and 799 miles since the accident on April 25. Well tomorrow I will be a drug addict instead of a biking addict. At least for awhile.

We all are cheering for a speedy recovery. You fought hard to get to this point. Once the surgery is done you will finally start to recover. It will only be a little longer than the wait for the surgery. Hang in there.

Agreed. Rest it as long as you need to. There's no point rushing back just to make things worse.

Apprecite the sentiments, everyone.... Just sort of confused from what my family doctor earlier said and the experience of others who have been through this.. Three months? Maybe two.
Third month is bumping up against Nevada tour and my right arm might have the stregnth of a shriveled up chicken leg? Seems others did better than three months?
Jean, you are familiar with this, no? . Three months? Maybe my surgeon is being really, really conservative? Of course, in the end I will have to do what I must.

My husband had the same surgery about 6 weeks ago. His recovery is going well. He doesn't ride, but I think he could do easy rides now. His biggest problem is he can't push with his arm, so I don't think it would take much abuse right now.
Hopefully in about a month you will be able to do easy spins around the neighborhood. He had a pain pump in his shoulder for the 1st 48 hours after surgery, worked great!! After that he has only taken aspirin for the pain.
Good luck and let us know how things go.

Gun n gal. Today I am at the 48 hour mark. This has been painful stuff. Feeels like nuclear fusion going on within my shoulder. Typing this- hunt and peck method of typing. Hate tv more than ever- until tdf comes on. So bored. Must watch what I eat- no exercise. Some better this A.M., I sense. Pain gets better can start up reading. SEE dr. tomorrow. Said almost worst tear he had ever seen. Not sure how much of anything I can do?
GREAT IF COULD GO ON WALKS SOON. HOW IS THERAPY for your husband.
