I've been bike commuting year-round since 2000. Since 2005, I've been sharing my commute with my son (now 5) and dropping him at his mixed-age kindergarten.
The first year he rode in a sidecar (chariott sidecarrier) but soon grew a bit too tall. He now rides an adams 7-speed trail-a-bike.
We have a blast riding every day, even when the weather isn't so nice. He much prefers going by bike to school every day. On weekends, he always wants to go by bike when we are planning outings. This summer we are getting Mom involved by doing at least one of our weekend expeditions (concerts, parties, errands) by bike. By combining bike trailer, panniers, and backpacks we can haul pretty much everything. We are getting much more efficient at locking our rigs up also.
Last weekend we enjoyed an early Sat cuban breakfast after a dry 8-mile ride. Our trip home was rainy and windy, but we all had a great time.
Glad to join this active set of bike forums!
