We're rolling...just updated the blog, follow van wouldn't start, Phil to the rescue...we're all good. Thank you for the support everyone...it means a lot to us. It's a strange feeling having this whole operation shift from planning to actually being real, but we've started and it will all fall into place. :) :) :) :)

Who's George? ;) George is doing the first pull after the parade zone and I'm in the back of the follow van on my way to the Old Castle Trading Post where we begin our leapfrog support. The first 21 miles is unsupported.

Good luck! Welcome to the world of following cyclists on long distance rides. Keep your cool, don't panic and everything will go well. Have fun with it, oh, and whatever you do, don't pass those pesky recumbents, everyone knows they can't climb.

Oh, if anyone wants to become a raam TS junkie, just go here.

Hey, that looks easy!

It is.

Insiders all know that RAAM is the ultimate poseur's fake out. Is kind of of like how they faked the old moon landings in a TV studio. Brandy has the RV stocked with cases of Frappuccino and Cuervo Gold and ice. A nice relaxing road-trip/rolling party only interrupted by the need to occasionally suit up and pose for photo shoots. Life is rough.

Hello friends!!! We're experiencing some issues, the motor home has a flat and we'll likely be without it until morning. Right now Phil, Paul and I are following George, we are between TS2 and TS3 and planning to swap riders at mile 33-35 of this leg. Good thoughts for us please, our crew exchanges are screwed right now, but we'll keep rolling and try to get these guys some sleep in the Camry.

The motorhome is back on the road! They're going to meet up with Rick so he can get some sleep. George just started a 60+ mile pull. He's rockin' it to Paul Oakenfold right now. :D

So...did y'all meet John Watt from the Bullshifters at the Congress time station...like I told you to? Hmm? He said he'd give each of you $100 and a foot massage when you passed through.

Also, here's George's (actually Team Beat Cancer) statistics:

Paul Oakenfold is a sellout

I saw him at Queen Mary and it was absotutely horrible. He plays so much trancy garbage now that its disgusting. I hope everyone erases his tracks from their cd's and ipods.

Mo'Phat

Not as much of a sellout as Morrissey. Quit the Smiths to cater to the whim of corporations and record sales. His mass-exposure was a money grubbing ploy to dip into the pockets of his devoted emo (I'll cry if you want me to) kid/tween fans. He's all about the buck...or the pound.

I've already run over my Morrissey and Smiths records, tapes, and CD's with a rental steam roller, then put on my black mascara and danced a Wiccan dance of grief on them...naked. Then I went to The Coffee Bean and got a Chai Tea and not that yuppie Cafe Latte garbage...and cried.

Well, since they're slacking (or have other things to do, like being good crewmembers), here's a few shots taken by John Watt, President of the Bullshifters Cycling Club in Phoenix, and who I met on my Grand Canyon trip, And who hiked Rim To Rim overnight (crazy!) at the Congress, AZ Time Station:

Okay, not a member of team BeatCancer, most likely a wayward plumber in search of a leaky faucet.

Don't know where you guys are at the moment, but a couple areas to be aware of prior to Cortez. The detour in the upper portion of the leg from Congress to Prescott is a pretty good climb the last 4 miles to the summit, but nice descent to Prescott. TS 13 to TS 14 at mile 7.3 out from Montezuma Creek watch for the roadway markings that identify the left turn at McElmo Creek. The printed map makes it appear the turn is near the town of Aneth, but it is about 3 miles prior. GPS should give an adequate read.

In the last blog entry, the riders are suffering from lack of sleep, but otherwise feeling good. Evidently, Rick decided to take a 100 mile pull  so that George could get some sleep.

You guys are doing great. Keep it up.
